Quantifying and Forecasting Non-Catastrophic Weather Risk
An innovative quantitative method to assess, monitor, and forecast non-catastrophic weather risk is presented. The historical assessment of weather risk requires business-specific weather indices and coincident weather-sensitive metrics. This procedure uses a self-organizing feature mapping algorithm to disperse historical business weather into weather types for which match-in-time business metrics produce weather-dependent metric distributions. Forecast weather, projected onto this mapping, permit anticipating weather risk.
